Deregulator explained

Greetings, musician, thanks for a giving chance Deregulator to impress you. In this intro we go over some terms and concepts of that little effect.

Get familiar with the terminology at the start. Perhaps you’re used to a somewhat different use of these words, but for the further understanding, we denote terms to speak the same language. There is a necessity because There are two modules that can be referred to the same, we call them differently once.
Echo in our case – a classic delay pedal with the value of the delay and the volume of feedback, such probably everyone has seen or used byself with a guitar, fed him a note and it fades evenly like an echo in a cave.
Delay in our case – literally the repeating machine, adopts the delay parameter of the Echo, he repeats  any sound or a piece if the parameter is less than the length of that sound.
Reverb is quite normal, with parameters of the room (abstractly as a percentage), the damping, damping frequency and the percentage of the signal affected by the reverb (wet). Couple of words about clicks.

Explanation and scheme.

Lets imagine not the device itself, but abstract scheme. Round knobs is for parameters, who have blue point in centre have minimum and maximum (in app its a double-slider). Sound routes by red wires, new values follows blue.  And on scheme 3 big blocks now from left to right “Delays randomiser”, “Sound path” and “Other randomisers”. As you see delay is received not so simple :) variations of rhythms is rich and fat here. Delay parameter appears in certain limit (setted with Limit slider) with certain speed (settled by Speed slider), Limit itself can be settled randomly by Limit randomiser slider (and Speed too), you even can control speed of this second layer randomisers with Limit randomiser tempo and Speed randomiser tempo.
And the newborn delay is up. It used by Echo and Delay. Remains randomisers are simpler and have only minimum and maximum for their targets. Sends randomiser feeds four parameters and have only maximum parameter. Now about sound, after input it arrives in Delay/Echo module. Mix of those effects can be setted with Mode crossfader, and with Clean slider you can add some clean unaffected signal. And our mix falls into Reverberator, but this is not the end – with Sends block we can return parts of affected signal back to Echo or/and Delay and between.
 Beside of Sends we can see Feedbacks randomiser, its for Echo feedbacks only and can be settled more than 100% and i don’t recommend do this manually, when feedback jumps up for a second it can make fadeouts longer.

Lets describe every slider now.

 Input* – Volume of sound on enter
Output* – Volume on exit
Left delay – Left channel delay for Echo and Delay
Right delay – Right  channel delay
Limit – Top limit for delay randomiser.
Speed – Speed of birth of new delays values. If it = 0 no randomisation happened and you can set delays manually.
Limit tempo* – Speed of birth new Limit value
Speed tempo* – Speed of birth new Speed value
Mode Echo/Delay – part of Delay in mix. If = 100% only Delay come to Clean crossfader
Clean – Part of clean non-affected sound in mix pre-reverb.
Left feedback – Echo feedback for left channel
Right feedback – Echo feedback for right channel
Echo to Delay – %  of Echo output sended to Delay
Delay to Echo – % of Delay output sended to Echo
Reverb to Delay – % of Reverb output (only wet) sended to Delay
Reverb to Echo – % of Reverb output (only wet) sended to Echo
Room size – Abstract room size in %
Damping – Reflections suppression
Damping frequency – Focusing frequency for suppression
Wet – affected by reverberator sound in output
And 10 randomisers for key-parameters of processor


Limit randomiser – makes dance slider Limit
Speed ​​randomiser – does the same thing with a slider Speed
Mode randomiser – prevents live peacefully slider Mode
Mode randomiser – starts a fight between Echo and Delay for a place in the mix
Clean randomiser – invites to dance slider Clean
Feedback randomiser – controls Left and Right feedback
Sends randomiser – immediately kicks 4 slider Echo to Delay, though he can only put a maximum value, it is dangerous if you roam.
Room randomiser – no less dangerous room if ill suppress reflection and put a large room, the sound will continue to grow until it became a buzz.
Damping randomiser – alters suppression, allowing sometimes to let go of reflection, but not too much, they can breathe in this way.
Damping frequency randomiser – will change the character of caves respiration.
Wet randomiser – changes the balance between the original sound and the reflected signal.

About clicks.

Sometimes when Delay much power and it don’t cares how slick it cuts, because of the mismatch of the amplitudes appears click. You can avoid this by disabling Delay at all. All you need is set down to zero Mode (and its randomiser) and Delay to Echo (and Sends randomiser). Thats all, you exclude Delay from output. The appearance of clicks often provoked by long synth passages, for short pieces of sound click often does not have time to be born.

Finishing interface.

iPad have more space for interface and now all sliders are on one screen, but on iPhone is still lack of space and interface and i split it in 4 sections. The whole point is a sliders, as has been denoted, the parameters regulated a single-end sliders, and randomisers by sliders with two ends and serifs. Also randomisers can be moved by the middle part without changing the size of the interval. On the iPad  all the menus reachable with logo-button and all on the same screen, to move between presets, settings and MIDI recording, use of segmentation toggle button. On iPhone menu is on right-down screen,  buttons with points lead to the open window, without points just do something. Deregulator can record sound, simply press the record button and at the end of the file can be picked up through iTunes, copied or open in Audioshare. This can be useful if you use the processor itself, with an external instrument (guitar, for example), or do not want to burden the CPU with a special program for the record.


You can configure the management of  processor with a midi controller or a few at once because channels are set individually for each of the slider, you can save the settings in the presets to find the needed. On bottom of window you will find the MIDI test unit to always know exactly what is coming in processor for ease here you can choose one channel for all the sliders, i made the same choice for controllers too, it can be useful when you need to turn off all the controllers, but at zero still something comes, for example Clock. Be vigilant with MIDI-Clock, sometimes, if send MIDI directly in Deregulator, it may be that Clock knocks down all settings as ticking off using zero controller, there may also be useful to separate Clock and controllers with different channels.

Audiobus and Inter-App Audio.

Deregulator can be used with another apps. Supported all slots in Audiobus, and IAA as fx slot.
 Sometimes its important launch all apps before connect with IAA.


In this version was deleted Anti-Loud module and now no one will care about sound-burst, be careful with feedbacks and room size.
